In 2014 Cross Timbers RC&D launched the Rural Business Development Initiative focused on community growth and fostering/mentoring a business climate for the growth of small businesses throughout Okfuskee County. To date, Cross Timbers RC&D has provided $49,500 in business grants impacting 13 businesses creating and retaining a total of 37 jobs.
Cross Timbers RC&D was created in 1990 with a focus on land, water, environmental management and community development. Over the past 5 years, the focus has been on initiatives aimed to help sustain healthy rural communities. Our current community development activities include: Small Business Lending & Grant Programs , youth entrepreneurship & Conservation Outreach Initiatives, Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Training & Healthy Communities outreach while creating strategic alliances to build local rural communities.
